Little white crosses

I drive by you everyday when I can’t hide
Another deadly bend in this road
Another long night

I look over and start telling a story
But you don’t answer anymore
But you were always laughing

Every time I get in I still cry
I wait for a minute but you don’t make a sound
The radio only plays along with time
This buzzing blur in my ears, numbing my mind
Those little white crosses are all mine

Hills and grassland pass on by
Watching me drive away from you
Watching the ghost by my side

I can’t escape this world of lies
Seeing red on the yellow sign
Seeing your life floating on a river

Every time I get in I still cry
I wait for a minute but you don’t make a sound
The radio only plays along with time
This buzzing blur in my ears, numbing my mind
Those little white crosses are all mine

The reminders up and down the roads
People without one barely notice
People with one can’t see to drive

A greeting card all dressed in white
Staring up at me
Staring down at your life

Every time I get in I still cry
I wait for a minute but you don’t make a sound
The radio only plays along with time
This buzzing blur in my ears, numbing my mind
Those little white crosses are all mine

Your little white cross is what’s left of my life
