Trail of Tears

Yesterday I walked to campus. Down the street of life, only death remained. Garbage sacks full of the evidence from the past week of pre spring break parties littered the lawns. Doors were shut. Lights were off. I imagined walking through a town where everyone had magically disappeared. They were gone.

The guys on that had invented a game in the front lawn the other day were gone. So too were there bottles of beer, fence posts, frisbees, stereo, and jubilant moods. A few shards of glass remained as a testament of what had happened there.

It was nice to walk to campus and not see anyone. Nobody had to pretend to be busy so as not to talk to me.

I liked driving across town this morning without fearing for my life at every intersection.

The restaraunt was only reasonably busy for breakfast.

Is it summer yet?
