Back for another installment and boy am I going to switch it up on you guys today. I’m bringing a little something for your boogie shoes. Today we’re listening to Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings. This group is like a time capsule from 1972 but they are touring right now! The Dap Kings are the house band for Daptone Records, the label to which Sharon is signed, and they’ve got a back beat that will blow your mind. “They are widely thought to be spearheads of a revivalist movement that aims to capture the essence of funk/soul music as it was at its height in the mid-1960s to mid-1970s.” (Wikipedia) That being true, these guys far surpass much of the funk/soul during that period. In addition to that, one can experience that music with a far superior production quality. listen and enjoy!
